Shackleford Banks NC, part of Cape Lookout National Seashore, inspired my paintings for this show. The “Banks”, as it’s called by the locals, is home to 121 horses that roam wild among the dunes and along the shore along with many beautiful birds.

Though I have painted these horses and birds many times in the past, I challenged myself anew to explore variations of this area by combining squares, rectangles, and/or circles in each work. The results took me in delightful new directions in each piece.
