I’m excited to be paired with two other great artists in Hillsborough Gallery of Arts’ Featured Artist Show. Inspiration for my paintings came from Shackleford Banks NC, part of Cape Lookout National Seashore.
The “Banks”, as it’s called by the locals, is home to 121 horses that roam wild among the dunes and to many beautiful shore birds. Though I have painted these horses and birds many times in the past, I challenged myself anew to explore variations of this area by combining squares, rectangles, and/or circles in each work. The results took me in delightful new directions in each piece.
